Triangle Park Pinata Party on Beacon Hill-Beacon Ave & S Stevens St

July 17, 2010 1:45pm Triangle Park Pinata Party, Beacon Hill Seattle, WA

Piñata Party returns on July 17

It’s almost time for the annual Piñata Party at Stevens Place Park (informally known as Triangle Park—it’s the small triangular park located between Beacon Avenue South, South Stevens Street, and 17th Avenue South)! Last year’s party was cancelled because of the Link Light Rail opening day festivities, but this year it’s back on July 17 with music, food, and as always, piñatas for the kids to clobber.

Our neighborhood Beacon Hill Piñata Party is Saturday, July 17 from 12 noon – 3:00pm at Triangle Park at South Stevens Streeet and Beacon Avenue South.

On behalf of your neighborhood organizing committee, here are a few notes for past attendees and first timers:

Food
We’re not grilling this year. Instead, food will be potluck style with a few local restaurants and Red Apple contributing. We’ll definitely have free fruit, juice and water. Please bring an item to share or a picnic lunch.

Entertainment, games, piñatas
Local band and Piñata Party tradition Lushy will perform as well as Beacon Avenue’s Jun Hong Kung Fu and a Oaxacan dance for kids. There will be a number of fun games for kids, too. Piñatas will start around 2:15pm. We still need a few more piñatas. Please let me know if you can bring a piñata.

It’s Cal Tjader meets Stereolab meets Brazil 66 in a bar in Berlin. Drink up people–it’s LUSHY! Bossa beat flavored alterna-pop that goes down nice and easy. Lounge-y and danceable with hints of exotica and a touch of electronica…nutty and hip…intriguing and soothing–must see live! Lushy concocts a refreshing pop style that blends original samples and Bossa beats with elements of vintage-Latin jazz, exotica, surf, new wave and sixties pop to create their own distinctive intercontinental sound. Most importantly, they have established a solid reputation for originality far beyond their roots in the lounge and exotica scene. Don’t miss this rare Portland appearance!

The countdown has begun…Prepare to launch…!
The Apollo Four are GO!
The Apollo Four are blasting on to the scene by taking liberal doses of lounge & exotica, blended with a pinch o’ kooky kitsch, and an added dash of rockin’ 1960s cool to ignite their solid instrumental spacey surf music base. Absolutely entertaining… supremely danceable… always shaken, never stirred. If your neighborhood Secret Agent Go-Go Lounge had a house band, it would be The Apollo Four!

DJ DREW GROOVE
http://www.facebook.com/drewgroove
Keeping things movin’ & a groovin’ throughout the night, expect to hear the way out & wildest in Hip Shakin’ Soul, Lounge, RnB, Tiki, Spy-Fi, Mod, Jazz, Surf, Exotica, Discothèque & Other In Sounds from Way Out! In his non-stop quest as a vinyl archeologist, Drew fearlessly travels deep into the sonic jungles and dusty crates to excavate a tantalizing mix of wax from the primitive, pulsing, wild & exotic to the suave, swanky & narcotic. Grab a cocktail and swing…!

Lushy at Triple Door Musiquarium Tues April 27 8-midnight with special guest Lynval Golding!

LUSHY WILL HAVE SPECIAL GUEST LYNVAL GOLDING JOINING IN FOR A FEW SONGS THIS TUESDAY, APRIL 27 !!!! Don’t miss it !!!! No Cover!!!!

Lushy will be playing in the Musicquarium at the Triple Door starting March 30 and then every Tuesday in April as part of SIFF’s Speakeasy film series San Francisco.  NO COVER!

Remy, SIFF and the Triple Door are pleased to announce the second edition of our Speakeasy series that will run each Tuesday from 3/30 to 4/27, this time celebrating the lovely city of San Francisco.

SIFF has chosen two more outstanding films: Ray Harryhausen’s vintage Sci-Fi classic It Came From Beneath the Sea (1955) and the Bogart/Bacall noir thriller Dark Passage (1947).

This time around, local 10 piece ‘progressive cocktail pop’ outfit Lushy will provide the musical accompaniment, laying their horn & percussion driven compositions over the dynamic visuals of both films.

Our resident mixologist Brian McKay has updated the vintage cocktail list for this series with some outstanding new additions, as well as retaining the favorites from the Chicago edition.

In addition, Seattle’s purveyor of all things classy, Paula the Swedish Housewife, will be curating some additional atmospheric nods to everyone’s favorite city by the bay: Tippy Hedron in the flesh, sashaying flower girls and other delightful eye candy shall abound.

Please join us for the exclusive launch of Speakeasy SF on Tuesday 3/30. Films show at 8 and 10PM: ‘It came from beneath the sea’ at 10 and ‘Dark Passage’ at 8.
